Volunteering With Us
Trans Joy Network has a wide range of roles to volunteer in, both within our centres and working in the background. These roles give our volunteers the
opportunity to gain new skills and qualifications in a safe and familiar
environment.
With so many different aspects upholding the organisation, there are no shortages of responsibilities to be distributed across the network. There will certainly be a place for you to contribute with your own skillset, no matter how niche.
Volunteer Positions
Experience within a desired role is not required to apply, nor is it considered during the appraisal process. Related questions are asked to predict the extent of support required to provide the volunteer with adequate training. Full training will be provided for each applied role with constant, direct assistance available from staff at all times.
Advertisement
This role entails sharing our organisation and its events via word of mouth, social media, post, telephone and by
distribution or display of our posters.
You may also be requested to produce a piece of media to be used as official advertisement content.
You will need to regularly
communicate with the other online and media teams to keep our online presence coherent.
Artist
This role includes making art of any media with the purpose of providing it to the network.
It may be freely donated to the network and its users or sold via the network. Examples
include posts, logos, jewellery or posters.
Performers are also
encouraged to share their art with the community via theatre, music or creative writing.
Community Liaison
This roles involves answering
questions from the public or event attendees.
This may occur via email, post, text message, Direct Message or
face-to-face.
Community Supervisor
This role entails supervising an event and ensuring all actions are safe and legal. It also includes
making sure every attendee of the event is happy, healthy and safe.
You must also ensure that all activities within the event are running smoothly and correctly. This my be games, speeches, competitions or entertainment.
Event Organisation
This role entails ensuring all
elements of an event run smoothly, from plan to wrap-up.
This includes creating ideas,
contacting venues, designating time slots and stall allocations,
contacting artists and more.
It also includes recruiting staff members and volunteers to assist during the event.
Finance
This role entails managing the money that comes into the Trans Joy Network funds. This means maintaining and accurate
expenditure log, designating funds, executing invoices and more.
This roles also includes receiving and correctly logging each
monetary donation made to Trans Joy Network, including cash
donations, bank transfers and PayPal donations.
You will also have to make financial predications and decisions in order to sustain efficiency within the
expenditure of the funds.
Food Preparation
This role entails hygienically
preparing and giving out the food and drinks for an event, all while following our food hygiene and safety protocols.
The menu and ingredients will be preselected and provided by a Staff Member or Event Organiser.
Typically, the items selected for an event will resemble a sandwich, a salad and cold snacks.
IT
This role includes maintaining emails, websites and domains and optimising our technology in its utilisation for the organisation.
You will need to regularly
communicate with the other online and media teams to keep our online presence coherent.
Networking
This role entail reaching out to to communities, alliances, businesses or individuals with the proposal to enter a partnership.
This may be done via social media, telephone or email.
We may ask to display leaflets or posters, perform assemblies or speeches, hire a venue, host events or host an individual.
In return we offer advertisement across social media and on our community notice boards.
Public Speeches
This role includes writing and/or performing speeches dedicated to trans + rights and liberation.
We may also diverge to perform in support of other
communities which will be
disclosed within our Public Declarations page.
Social Media
This role includes maintaining our social media accounts by keeping all public information up to date and posting
regularly to each account's feed, page, story and
community groups.
You will also need to monitor and respond to Direct Messages and comments
professionally within a
respectful time frame.
You may also be requested to research and create posts on a relevant topic.
